1. find a peer-reviewed research journal article published in the last ~5 years (2017-2022) that reports on an empirical study that is focused on an employee relations-related topic. The article must come from one of the following journals:

Employee Relations

Human Resource Management Review

Journal of Personnel Psychology

Journal of Applied Psychology

Journal of Management

You must also provide a correct APA citation for the article, and a PDF copy of the article must be uploaded to Blackboard along with your assignment submission. As well, in the following two sections, if you refer to other research or articles, APA formatting must be used for the in-text citations and the reference list (the reference list does not count against the page limit for this assignment).

2. Provide a summary of the article in your own words, as if you were describing the article and the study to a friend or family member. This is a key part of the translation aspect of this assignment. Use no more than 2 double-spaced pages for your summary. In your summary, be sure to answer the following questions (not necessarily in this order):

What was the research about? Describe the purpose of the study and the article.

How did they conduct the research? What types of participants were used?

What kind of research did they conduct (e.g., correlational study, experiment)? Briefly explain how you can tell it is that type of research.

What were the key findings offered by the study?

What are some of the main limitations of the research study? Can you identify any other limitations to their study that may not have been explicitly mentioned?

3. Using another 2 double-spaced pages (approximately), discuss and describe how the article and its findings could be used by a human resources professional in their workplace. As above, be sure to answer each of the following questions (but they do not have to be discussed in this order): HRES 3278 Employee Relations Winter 2022

How would an HR professional be able to apply and benefit from the study and the research conducted? How applicable or practical is this research to an industry you are interested in working in?

What would be the likely outcomes for employees in a company that implements and applies the research findings?

Would there be any potential downsides or limitations for a company that changes their practices and policies to follow findings of the article?

How might the impact of these findings be changing due to COVID-19?

How does the research relate to other HR knowledge, practices, policies, or other information that you are aware of?

If an HR professional was faced with an issue relevant to the article, would you suggest they apply and adopt the findings of the article, or would you recommend a different potential solution to address the issue?
