(1) First, in a MS word document, draw a series of concentric and/or overlapping circles that are representative of the functional areas of your company: R&D, Production, Finance, and Marketing(i.e., your drawing should contain four circles, each representing a functional area; you do not need to include a circle for Human resources). The size of the circles should reflect your perception of the importance of each of the functional areas to your company's success. Use only three sizes of circles?small (least important), medium, and large (most important). Further, the degree of overlap and/or concentricity of the circles should reflect how the functional areas relate to each other. For example (see below), if you feel that finance and marketing share commonalities, but that finance is more important to your firm's success than marketing, you might put a larger circle (for finance) and a smaller (medium or small) overlapping circle (for marketing). Be sure to label each of the four circles.
