1. In an Excel document, label the first tab Step 1 and do the following:

The legislative body of Woodhaven has approved your departments proposed budget of $400,000 for the fiscal year starting July 1. (This is a department budget. Revenues are not a consideration as the state is determining how much your department can spend.)

In Excel, prepare your annual budget by month using the following guidance:

1. a) Salaries are $23,000 per month and benefits total 15% of salaries each month.

2. b) Supplies are purchased at the beginning of each quarter and total $400 per quarter

3. c) There are two service contracts:

   • The first contract is for your website host and development and is paid in two parts: $15,000 in December and $25,000 in June.

   • The second contract is for data analysis by an outside vendor. Payment is due every January for a total of $2,000.

4. d) The director of your department attends a national conference every October. The training budget is $3,000 for the conference and includes travel.

5. e) This year, the department will be outfitted with new technology equipment, including new PCs, laptops, a phone system and server. The cost is expected to be $36,000 and transition should happen in February.
