Morals are derived from the Greek word Mos, which means customs. In general, customs are governed by social and cultural norms. As a result, society expresses morals as general rules of right and wrong. So$,$ morals are direct rules we should follow. Hence, there may be little freedom to choose which morals will be followed. Another outcome of morals being determined by society is that morals may differ from culture to culture. The Greek word ethics is derived from Ethikos, which means character. Therefore, ethics is governed by an individual. The character of an individual determines how an individual will respond to a specific situation. This definition also allows for freedom to think and make choices for a particular situation.
