1 Project Proposal Project Proposal BUS 517 2 Project Proposal Project Proposal Purpose of the Project and the Method of Selection The goal of the project is to introduce the edible customized packaging as a source of replacement to the paper bags and other non-biodegradable packaging materials. The purpose of the project is to ensure that an alternative measure is taken concerning the packaging activities in the production and restaurant industries. Different selection methods are involved in the adoption of the project. The method of selection was based on financial and non-financial measures. For instance, the financial measures were based on the existence of cheap alternatives that would be adopted in the case of packaging sectors. For example, the need to reduce consumer costs associated with packaging was an essential issue. However, the primary selection methods for the project were considered as non-financial. For example, the need to reduce pollution was a significant element for the method of selection of the project. I recommended this plan based on the benefits that it will provide to the current trending challenges in the environmental sectors. I believe that there are changes needed in how the companies do their things and packaging activities. The SMART Objectives of the project The project attempts to solve different issues that are mainly considered to be environmental. According to the situation developing the packaging materials is a relevant way of ensuring that environmental conservation is achieved. Moreover, the aim of the project is to introduce an environmentally friendly packaging approach which would be used to attain environmental protection. The edible packaging materials are preferred since they are used as a source of food and packaging materials by the users. The environmental issues associated with the use of non-biodegradable packages have been a source of pollution in the environment. The 3 Project Proposal use of paper bags and cotton boxes are the most common types of packaging materials. However, they tend to pollute the environments in significant ways. Therefore, the project intends to reduce the rates of pollution. The project is also meant to ensure cost reduction in the packaging sectors. The high costs of manufacturing the paper bags and the cotton boxes have been a problem in the economic frontiers. The project aims at ensuring that a social balance among people in the society based on the regulation of prices. It creates an opportunity for other manufacturing industries to engage in the production of other products. It also creates opportunities for a safe and sound environment. Scope Statement The Project Objective The project objective is to manufacture and design edible packaging materials that are considered customized depending on the company logo as well as other demands and deliverables assigned to them at a maximum cost of $ 0.05 per packaging box. Deliverables Companies having an alternative cheap means of packaging The existence of an alternative and cheap means of packaging in companies is of relevant need as the consumer purchasing power has been increased due to the existing costs of packaging that is attached to the products they offer to customers. Customers do not have the need to pollute the environment with the paper bags and other non-biodegradable packaging materials. The pollution of the environment through human actions and activity especially the paper bags and other non-biodegradable packages has been a considerable issue (Verghese, Lewis, & 4 Project Proposal Fitzpatrick, 2012). The customers who purchase the packages have improper disposal approaches that would lead to extended pollution. The project intends to solve these problems. The low costs of production and product delivery by companies. Companies are also major players in the society. They provide the necessary goods and services we need for survival. The cost of production in the business is relevant for their profitability. The production costs are also essential in determining the long-term scope of most businesses. The new packaging approach tends to bridge the gap of high costs of production. Generating environmental conservation awareness The proposal also intends to ensure environmental conservation awareness. Through the development of an alternative means of packaging, the consumers can realize and acknowledge the differences between various packaging approaches. Customers and companies may learn a lot about environmental protection. Ensure material conservation The last deliverable is on material conservation. A lot of materials are wasted in the manufacture of non-biodegradable packaging materials (Kirwan, 2013). It is possible that the project will enable material conservation since most of them would not go to wastage since most of the current packaging items are non-reusable or renewable.
