1. Respond with how you think the two or three things they identified as part of the Hilo Medical Center case study would be approached differently by Dr. Downs and her one-physician office.2. List two or three examples of how Dr. Downs could or should use the processes that Hilo used to improve data governance at her office despite the difference in the size of the two organizations. The biggest thing that stood out to me after reading this case study was the importance of forming groups for collaboration in this field. It illustrated how important collaboration amongst a large group of individuals can help to make beneficial changes within the HIMT field. Because HIMT is a multidisciplinary field there are so many different types of minds that can help to make lasting changes for an organization. By forming a group that has all of these diverse expertises HIMT professionals can tackle complex problems from different angles.Another thing that stood out to me about collaborating in groups, was idea generation within these groups. Having a diverse amount of expertise is one thing, but providing a platform for brainstorming and generating new ideas that could benefit the organization as a whole is another. Through these discussions and group meetings, members can leverage their collective knowledge and come up with innovative solutions to challenges the organization may be facing. These groups also provide a vessel for peer review and feedback when changes are made.I was involved in several student and faculty decision groups at my previous college. They helped to open the faculty's eyes to the needs of the students and vice versa. I enjoyed being able to be collaborative with my peers and help make lasting changes in the college for the better. The same should go for any future IT job I may encounter, collaboration especially in this field is the most important aspect of any change that may occur. Creating groups for collaboration in the HIMT field fosters innovation, facilitates knowledge sharing and promotes collective action to address the changing needs of health care and patient care.
