1-Help Please: DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT? YES OR NO
Perceptions are different based on an individual's upbringing. This upbringing can be based on regional areas, northerns versus southern or central parts of states or areas. All these perceptions cause individuals to behave based on immediate stimuli, situation or stress that a person is dealing with. This impacts a person's decision making because the person is reacting. When people react out of an emotional trigger they are not making the best decision due to the trigger. Triggers can impact individuals in an area, department, or service. Perceptions are contagious and dangerous. The digital age has transformed the way people interact with each. People can only communicate in emoji's and 140 characters. People are no longer capable of looking other people in the eye. Yes, they can do it in a virtual setting like zoom and webex; but they are incapable of doing it while in person. Online people have created filters to enhance individuals' looks and features. People are no longer being their authentic selves. Due to the digital age people's perceptions have also changed in regards to how people treat each other in public settings. Perceptions have changed because Covid-19 caused the whole world to be locked down for almost two and a half years. This caused great pain and suffering. People are more lonely and depressed than ever. Perceptions have changed in the sense that being online has allowed people to debase, disrespect, and deject people who do not support their ideology. These perceptions are detrimental to the individual and the company or organization. They create problems, which interfere with work. The decision making process is now skewed because people are not using rational decision making models (Robbins, 2019).
2- DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT?
There appears to be a link between perception and decision making. Psychology, Social psychology, Sociology and Anthropology play a large role in understanding what drives individuals and helps us better understand the science of organizational behavior (Robbins, 2019). All individuals perceive situations differently and due to differing perceptions to stimuli the process in making decisions will vary. Individuals have different levels of education, training, lived life experience, work experience and abilities. A 40-year study on risk perception identifies that the characteristics of the perceiver, the hazard, and the ability to learn things from a hands-on approach are identified as big factors in understanding risk perception (Siegrist, 2020). Taking a deep dive into the psychology can help us better understand human behavior and give explanation to an individual's decision to a situation. Sociology helps us understand the relationship of culture and environment as it relates to a group of people.
