2. Check the differential settlement to be expected between the column carrying the highest load and the one carrying the lowest load. Check the angular distortion to be within allowable limits.(Refer to CODUTO CH2, Pages 28-34).
3. Do the structural design of the intermediate spread footing (Q5) only and show all the details on scaled drawings of plan, and sections. (Refer to CERNICA, CH6). Note: Take Live Load as 200 kN (included in the column load Q5).
4. Consider a mat foundation instead of square spread footings and determine the allowable bearing capacity using the minimum mat size (DAS/CH6). Check settlement criterion as well, ensuring the differential settlement beneath the mat does not cause angular distortion.
5. Check if the minimum mat size is safe in carrying the given loads.
6. Do a complete structural design. fc'=21MPa,fy=400MPa, columns: 5050cm
7. Comment on your results. Which foundation type (spread or mat) is safer to use for the given conditions. Is it also an economic design?
