2. Frequency distribution tables The pocket mouse, found in western North America and as far south as northern South America, is well adapted to life in the desert. It can live for long periods without water by utilizing the moisture available from food. The pocket mouse gets its name from the fur-lined cheek pouches in which it carries its food. A researcher is studying spatial memory in pocket mice by running the mice through a radial arm maze designed to measure spatial learning and memory. Each mouse's score is equivalent to the number of arms of the radial arm maze it investigates. A higher score indicates a mouse that is more curious and therefore more spatially intelligent.
