(3 points) A large and well-structured company has just acquired a small and young software start- up firm owned by a few engineers. A meeting took place between members from both entities to plan the implementation of the acquisition. The members from the acquirer company, who were senior managers with a strong record in firm acquisition, prepared thoroughly and came to the meeting with the intention to make concrete decisions and discuss ways of implementing them. Their agenda was well planned, and they insisted that every point be mentioned in the minutes. However, they were frustrated at what they called lack of preparation from their counterparts who also lacked focussed discussions as they would talk about multiple subjects in an informal and unstructured way. During the meeting, the members from the start-up firm were still leafing through the documents and reports whereas their counterparts were annoyed and expressed their feelings in regard to their lack of preparation. Some members of the acquired firm showed resistance to some dominating members from the acquiring company and some of the latter appeared impatient regarding the team progress as they tried to force their agenda.
