Nurse PPE is the first priority for safety. -Asses the situation and get as much information as possible about the nature of the injury. - Determine whether resuscitation is needed or not. - Primary survey is done to rapidly identify and manage immediate threats to life. In this case patient is bleeding so the priority is CAB: circulation, airway and breathing. In addition, the nurse is monitoring all vital signs (BP, RR, Temp, Pulse Ox). Next, the nurse would insert a Foley and NG tube, hang IV fluids and blood and designate other responsibilities accordingly.
