You will be planning a wedding project.Each student will work on this project independently and will play the role of a project manager in a firm that specializes in events such as weddings. You will come up with a fictitious client(s) and will have to create the complete scenario. The scale of the project is totally up to you, but you must be sure to keep it consistent throughout. You will take this project through all phases of the project life cycle except for execution. You are in a competitive industry. Many other project management firms will be competing for this business.Your first deliverable on this project will be The Project Definition Document. It must completely outline the "what" of your project. It is a high-level description to define your project that must cover all of the following areas:Background: Problem/Opportunity - Exactly why are you undertaking this project?Goals - What are you going to achieve, and when? Your goals must be S.M.A.R.T. It is essential that your goals clearly spell out what success in your project will look like. What are the success criteria for this project?Project Scope - What product, service, or result do you expect to achieve by undertaking this project? What actions will your team take to deliver this? Discuss both what is within and outside of the scope of this project. If there is something that you will NOT be doing as part of this project that may seem ambiguous, clearly state this.Stakeholder Analysis - List the names and roles of all stakeholders and use a Power Interest Grid to outline how you will manage their expectations.Communication Plan - Building on your Stakeholder Analysis you will now show how communication with esch of the stakeholders will be carried out. Which forms of communication with be used? When will it be done? Who will be responsible for the communication? Refer back to Learning Outcome 3 where we learned about various forms of project communication and when it is best to use each one for maximum effectiveness.
