7:21 a H) E an 96%| 6 Hello Everyone, I hope you are well. I am writing to remind you that next class (Monday, October 24) we will have our Writing Test 1. To get ready for the test, please review the reading that we discussed in class: "Grammar and Your Salary" by Peter Harris; it will be used for Writing Test #1. You will be asked to write an extended paragraph of 8-12 sentences in response to ONE of the writing topics provided. You will be also provided with the reading. Before writing your paragraph, it is recommended that you prepare an outline or rough draft of the points you plan to use. Use academic writing style. This means that you should avoid rst and second person, slang, and contractions (e.g. don't, they'll, isn't, etc). Referto the reading two times to back up your ideas. All references to the reading should be paraphrased (retold in your own words). Do not copy directly from the reading. When referencing a reading, make sure to acknowledge the author and/or source. For example, begin your reference with a lead-in phrase such as In the reading,... or According to the writer,.... Reading references must be properly cited using APA in-text citation formatting. (Please review our lesson on Referencing Using |n-text Citations (APA Style 7th Edition) as well as my power point presentation . Make sure your paragraph begins with a topic sentence and contains three supporting points with examples, including two paraphrased and properly cited reading references. Please spend time on post-writing (i.e., reading over your writing and making improvements to your grammar and content). Marks will be awarded for structure, development, vocabulary use, documentation, and grammar. Also, I would like to remind you about the School of Advancement Policy for Missed Tests that was discussed at the beginning of our course and is posted in the News section of our course shell - Welcome to COMM 161! : Missed/Late Assignments (Sep 9, 2022 12:29 PM) as well as in the Content area >Course Outline, Schedule, and Evaluation> COMM_161118 in our Course shell: Missed/Late Assignments: "Students who have missed a test and resent documented
