Porter's five forces model consist of the following
- Threat to entry - The capital required in providing recruiting services is comparatively low so it attracts a lot of new entrants. Thus we have to make recruiting strategies and program in such a way that a loyal and brand value impact is made on the customers so that they don't shift to the new entries.
- Rivalry or competition - The competition is high since we have to compete the local newspapers, craigslist and colleges so we have to plan our pricing and recruiting strategies by analyzing and keeping in mind the strategies of the competitors . We have to compete aggressively have to be updated with the requirements of the companies and student to acquire a market share. Daily list update should be maintained and a proper communication network so the right sources are availed at the right time to compete the existing competitors
- Bargaining power of the suppliers - higher the bargaining power of the suppliers more it will effect the profits.
- Bargaining power of the buyers - The compensation and fees policy should be such that it is feasible and competitive at the same time so that the buyers won't have a upper hand on us and we can analyze our profits according to our plans.
- Threat of substitutes- The threat of substitutes are quiet high since there are companies which already existing. We have to consider such policies that would help us make a place in the market like providing related and reliable summer jobs to the right person. Reaching out to the people at the right time through advertisements and promotions, should publish the required information so that it reaches out the necessary public.

Through reviewing the functioning or operations of the organization and the porter’s five force analysis it can be identified that the firm which recruit students for the companies are facing a severe competitive rivalry in the market in which it is operating. Since there are competitive giants operating in this industry and the students are having more options to find their jobs the firm need to develop a competitive strategy which can yield competitive advantage for it. The competitive strategy which can be recommended for this firm is mentioned below.
The firm can focus on provision of training and development programs for the students which will equip them to acquire the relevant talents and skills which are essential for their career. This can attract the students towards the firm and can enroll with it. This can also act as the potential back up for the firm to recruit the students for the companies. This can also enhance the creditability or value of the firm and can generate a trust within the students once the firm remains successful in placing the students successfully in top companies.
This can be considered as a unique competitive strategy which compared with its competitors like local newspapers, job portals etc.
