(a) Cogeneration power plant is a type of power plant that generate both electrical power and steam. In the operations of the plant, temperature of various machines, liquids and steam need to be continuously monitored. Discuss why temperature measurement is important and list three types of temperature sensor that are commonly used for such application. (7 marks) Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) have been utilized to measure temperature of superheated steam which is about 530°C. Discuss why RTD is more suitable for such application in comparison to a thermocouple. Describe the working principle of the RTD and its calibration procedure. (4 marks)
