A company is trying to decide if they should opt for a subscription based service with Microsoft
Question:
A company is trying to decide if they should opt for a subscription based service with Microsoft for all Microsoft suite products versus buying some of their products. Please use the data below to determine the costs associated with a full on subscription for Microsoft 365 Standard.
Option 1 - One time purchase of office home & business + Email subscription
- For Each laptop we purchase, Home and Business is currently being purchased to include word, excel and PowerPoint, which costs $299.00 per computer. We currently have 33 computers.
- Each laptop has a lifetime of 2-3 years, at which time we need to replace the laptop and purchase a new one and home & business again
- The money previously spent on this is a sunk cost and shouldn't be considered - only future purchases of Home & Business should be considered.
- The email subscription service is $61.20 per user per year
- At this time we will be licensing 33 e-mail accounts. This is not a sunk cost as it hasn't been incurred yet.
- We are currently using some products seen below that will be incurred with this option
Option 2 -Subscription for all Microsoft Products - Microsoft 365 Business Standard
- This subscription service is $192.00 per user per year
- 30 devices will need this service @ $192.00 per user per year. The other 3 will only require the email subscription @ $61.20 per user per year
- There are some products that can be replaced by this service. Dropbox @ $15.99 per month NOT per user. Zoom @ $200.00 per year NOT per user. Miro @ $187 per user per year with 15 users
