Alternative 1: Use the existing machine and cater for the increase in demand by using overtime. The costing data for this option are shown below.

The firm feels confident about the costing data except the fixed annual operating cost for the new machine. It feels that the estimated fixed annual operating cost for the new machine may be subject to error. In addition, the estimated increase in demand is also subject to error.
