A literature-based project
For this project, you will choose an interesting aspect/topic/question within a broader OB topic
and analyze it based on at least 6 scholarly/academic sources. You will then demonstrate how the
knowledge you gathered can be applied to an organizational example and create a mini
intervention plan. Examples of topics include, The effect of cohesion on satisfaction and
performance in self-managed teams, or the relation between transformational leadership and
citizenship behaviors. Do not work on a broad topic such as work-life conflict or job self-
efficacy. These are too much for a single project and would not allow for meaningful analysis
and conclusions.
Your final presentation needs to have the following parts (a grading scheme will be posted closer
to presentation time): A) Introduction, where you introduce the topic, situate it within OB and
discuss the importance of the topic theoretically and practically. State your
hypotheses/expectations. B) Methodology. Please describe the process how you searched and
then organized the material, including what the inclusion/exclusion criteria were. You will need
to include at least six scholarly literature pieces in your analysis. C) Literature analysis. This
is the main part of the project. You will need to find a meaningful way to organize the literature
you found and analyze it. This cannot be a description of the papers/material you chose to
include. It needs to have some added value, there should be comparison between/among articles
and a meaningful way to group and understand them. D) Discussion. In this part you are asked to
elaborate on what the group found particularly interesting or enlightening, point out the strengths
and gaps in the literature you gathered, and suggest areas/avenues for future investigation. E)
Intervention plan. This part expands on the practical aspect of the literature. When you choose
a topic to study, pay attention to its practical significance and the opportunities it provides for
real-world application. Specifically, you are asked to include a brief organizational example
where you can apply the literature you found. Briefly describe the background for the
organizational example (preferably a real-world example of an existing organization). Explain
how/to what extent the literature you gathered applies to this example: What is aligned with the
literature and how (if at all)? What are your recommendations? Develop a realistic mini
intervention plan based on the theory and research in the area, and your analysis. Describe the
plan and its steps in an organized manner. Justify your recommendations. Briefly discuss the
plans main advantages and challenges.
