A majority of the work in this semester has been created to cover the breadth of Information
Question:
A majority of the work in this semester has been created to cover the breadth of Information Systems (IS). This final assignment will require you to synthesize all that we have discussed in the semester in the context of a single vision of technology. You will be required to read one of the books listed below and write a 5-8 page report on the book. The report will contain a brief (2-3 page) executive summary of the book, and then a personal essay (3-5 pages) on your understanding and the implications of the work you have read on the future of society and business.
Book:
- Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead - Sheryl Sandberg
Detailed Requirements:
The final document should be clearly broken into two sections: 1) the Executive Summary, and 2) your personal understanding and take aways.
In an Executive Summary, you are to identify several of the major themes in the book and write about the author's vision/theory/belief in relation to those themes. You may use short quotes (be sure to reference them) and you may use outside sources (but they should not be necessary). I do not want your opinion or a chapter by chapter summary of the book.
In the second section, you should take the reading chosen and several of the themes you have identified in the summary to create a synthesis of your ideas, the author's ideas, and outside voices on the subject. What I am looking for is your application or rejection of the themes in the context of Information Systems and business in general. Ideally, the conclusion should include your vision of the future.
The following questions are some of the many that you may or may not want to address. This list is not a comprehensive list, nor do I expect you to answer all of them.
• How would you see the themes you have elaborated on affecting the future of IS and business?
• What future problems have the author and you identified that may be facing us in our professional careers with IT?
• What personal challenges exist in integrating IS into our lives?
• What business and governmental policy changes are suggested and how would they fix or complicate the matter?
