A Moroccan company in the electronics sector operates a network constituted of: (a) 2 assembly plants dedicated to the production of RFID devices, (b) 2 handling facilities that serve as transit sites and where the nal packaging of the devices is done, and (c) 3 stores selling the device to industrial partners. The capacities of the plants, as well as the unit shipping costs (expressed in MAD by device shipped) from the plants to the handling facilities are provided in the table below. Similar to the previous problem, a plant is allowed, if needed, to produce less than its capacity, but cannot exceed the latter. All the demand of the stores needs to be met exactly.
| Plant/Handling Facility | Unit Shipping Costs (MAD) | Capacity | |
| HF1 | HF2 | ||
| P1 | 50.80 | 21.00 | 230 |
| P2 | 19.90 | 46.50 | 287 |
The unit shipping costs (expressed in MAD by device shipped) from the handling facilities to the stores, as well as the stores demands, are given in the table below.
| Handling Facility/Store | Unit Shipping Costs (MAD) | ||
| S1 | S2 | S3 | |
| HF1 | 34.40 | 34.00 | 34.80 |
| HF2 | 45.90 | 33.30 | 40.80 |
| Demand | 63 | 147 | 107 |
- Define the decision variables of this transshipment problem (Hint: there are 10 of them).
- Express the problems objective
- Express the two constraints at the handling facilities.
