A pump-motor system is used to transfer water (p = 62.4 lbm/ft³ & μ =6.72x10+ lbm/ft.sec) at a steady rate of 4500 lbm/min from a reservoir to a tank located at an elevation of 110 ft., measured vertically between the respective water surfaces in the reservoir and tank. The transfer is made using a 450 ft long commercial steel pipe with a uniform inside diameter of 7.5 inches. Both the inlet and outlet of the pipe have sharp edges.
