A regression analysis was applied in order to determine the relationship between a dependent variable and 8 independent variables.The following information was obtained from the regression analysis.

R Square = 0.80

SSR = 4,280

Total number of observations n = 56

  1. Fill in the blanks in the following ANOVA table.
  2. Is the model significant at alpha = 0.05? Why or why not?
  3. Show that the coefficient of Determination, R2is 0.80
  4. Compute the adjusted R2

Part 2 :Two-Way ANOVA

Many biochemical reactions are slowed or prevented by the presence ofoxygen. For example, there are two simple forms of fermentation, one that converts each molecule of sugar to two molecules of lactic acid, and a second that converts each molecule of sugar to one each of lactic acid, ethanol, and carbon dioxide. The second form is inhibited by oxygen. The particular experiment that we consider here was designed to compare the inhibiting eect of oxygen on the metabolism of two dierent sugars, glucose and galactose, by Streptococcus bacteria. In this case, there were four levels of oxygen that were applied to the two kinds of sugar.

We t a two-way ANOVA with interaction.The following is the R Output.

1.Set up the relevant hypothesis to be tested.

2.Using the p-values, make decision regarding the main effects as well as the interactions at 5% level of significance.
