A shallow foundation $6m8m$ will be placed on a soil stratus at a depth of $3\mathrm{.}00m$ below the ground surface. The loads transmitted to the footing include $115$kPa of dead load, $25$kPa of live load and $15$kPa of incidental loads.

The ground surface is horizontal and the subsoil is medium firm clay to a depth of $25m$ to bedrock. The bulk unit weight of the soil is $17k\frac{N}{m^3}$ and the water table is near the ground surface.

The undrained elastic modulus was measured in the field using a pressuremeter. The results are included in the table below as a function of the depth at which the test was performed.
