The soil boring logs for a project are provided with all the necessary soil properties. Estimate the bearing capacity of the soil if driven pile is considered as foundation system. Each of the boring logs are20ft. deep. Due to budget constraints, piles will be driven maximum20ft. Additionally, the pile diameter (for circular pile) cannot be more than 15 inches, and for square section pile, the maximum cross-sectional dimension should not be more than15by15. Based on the given condition and soil properties, proportion the pile dimension and find the allowable bearing capacity in a most economical way for both circular and square section pile. Use reasonable factor of safety. Develop capacity curves, and recommend the allowable structural column loads that the pile can carry for all the borings for different pile section dimension.
