A thermal power plant operates on a regenerative cycle, as shown in the diagram below. Superheated water vapor is admitted into the high pressure (HP) turbine at P5=5MPa and T5=500C. The condenser operates at a pressure of P7=20kPa, and at its outlet (state 1) the water is in the form of a saturated liquid. Part of the steam leaving the HP turbine is withdrawn at P6=0.3MPa to be directed into the mixing regenerator. The water leaving the regenerator (state 6) is also in liquid form.
