The self-weight of the beam can be ignored. For this assignment, you are to evaluate the steel moment resisting frame AB supporting the floor (the elevation view is shown). The structural elements are prevented from swaying by the core walls. You are to use the following load case combinations for this assignment: 1.2G + 1.5Q on spans 1 and 2, 0.8G on spans 3 and 4

Develop and provide screenshots of an EXCEL spreadsheet based on the direct stiffness method to calculate the maximum positive and maximum negative moment values on the beams of a frame shown below. Use the combinations of load cases identified above. Sketch the bending moment diagram, and annotate on them the maximum positive and negative moment values determined for the columns and the beams. Note: the maximum positive moment values can be taken as the positive moment values at midspan (although in reality, this is not always the case).
