A utility patent is a patent for a technical or scientific innovation, and a design patent is a patent for an ornamental design. Go to Google and search for "Google patents" -- your first result will be the Google Patent Search engine, which looks like any other Google search but allows you to find patents.

Practice finding patents by using search terms for fashion and apparel items, like shirts, buttons, bras, pants, shoes, etc. Then search for design patents by entering the same terms but specifying design patent. Each patent will be illustrated by one or more pictures or drawings. Right-click on the most illustrative drawing, click on copy image, then post the image to the discussion board by clicking Control + V after opening up a New Post. Then give your post a title which indicates the subject of the patent, the year it was filed or published, and the name of the inventor.

You must post EITHER a utility patent a design patent. You should analyze and comment briefly on your chosen patent. You may need to click on the image and then drag the corners of the image inward to resize the picture so that it is smaller.
