We will do this in 2 steps. You will compare 2 companies. All the following must be provided for both companies. I prefer showing both in the same charts/graphs, but they can be shown separately. We will work with these 2 companies:

The links will take you to their most recent annual reports. These were issued in March of this year.

Both companies are retailers that often compete in the same mall or locations. They are both "legacy" businesses - that is they've been around for a while - but both have evolved to online offerings. The ultimate project which we will complete next week is to compare the two and make a recommendation as to which you would suggest a client to invest in.

All the information to complete the requested items are in the statements. You can use search (control f) to find some of these. Some will have to be calculated. I have posted a discussion board for any questions/answers or other comments.

Excel Workbook

You will submit one Excel workbook which will contain three worksheets. The first worksheet will include the financial data needed for each corporation. You will find this information by looking up each corporation’s annual report on the Internet. Use the 2018 and 2019 year-end data. Use only the annual report for the financial statements. The second worksheet will be the required ratio calculations for each corporation utilizing formulas in Excel. The third worksheet will be graphs
