Paula is the manager of the Exquisite housekeeping company. She has recently become concerned about the performance of one of the cleaning staff - Sarah. Sarah has turned up late to work on a couple of occasions, and customer complaints have been made about the cleaning of items in the hotel rooms. Nonetheless, Sarah has exceptional organising skills.
TASK 1
Conduct a performance appraisal interview, being sure to:
- Prepare an opening statement
- Let Sarah know how her work is contributing to the organisation
- Provide Sarah with constructive feedback
- Give Sarah the chance to speak about any issues/challenges she is facing
- Help Sarah identify any skills and competencies that need to be improved
- Agree on targets for the future (specify the date when targets will be checked for compliance).
Record this interview with a partner and upload the audio file (at least 5 minutes) to Moodle for grading.
TASK 2
Based on Task 1, you will complete a Word document (at least 100 words), which will be filed in the performance management records of the company. The document must include the following information:
- A general description of what was discussed during your conversation with Sarah
- Your recommendations regarding formal counselling and training sessions for Sarahs work performance improvement
- A description of how Sarahs performance would be recognised/rewarded if she performs exceptionally well
