- After reading your classmates' posts, find someone with a different personality style or someone who is motivated differently than you. Brainstorm ways you would work with this individual in order to be productive in the workplace.
Handling stress, managing change, and staying motivated are challenges that most people face in their career on a regular basis. Using these self-assessments has been useful for me to see where my strengths lie, as well as areas where I could benefit from training both hard and soft skills.
Handling stress can be quite challenging for me. I am conscientious, but I can be strongly affected by emotion at times. Practicing mindfulness in the past couple years has helped me with this by making me remember to keep things in perspective. Managing change is similar for me, but not to the same extent. I have been through a number of big life changes, some of which have not been by choice, and I think developing this skill just comes naturally with experience if you don't already possess it.
Motivation was something I struggled with when I was young and directionless, but now that I am 35 and starting a family, things are much different. For one, I have more to think of than just myself, but I also have plans in place that let me grab onto something tangible. It was tough to find motivation when I was just going through the motion
