Alisha is an honour student of a College in Thailand. She is hardworking, diligent and popular as she is very active with extra-curricular activites. Last semester, Alisha decided to do the study abroad program for one semester at St. Lawrence College. Alisha is excited about this exchange program as she is eager to experience a new culture and meet new people. However, things have not worked out as planned for Alisha. Arriving in fall in Kingston, she was having a hard time coping with the unpredictable and cooler Canadian weather. She is really missing home and keeps comparing the weather in Kingston with the weather of her home country. She really misses Thai food and feels that the food in Kingston is rather tasteless and wishes that she was back in her home country. She is also having problems with understanding Kingston's transport system. She spends most of her time in her room, seven days a week, apart from the time spent at the college. Sometimes she would not speak to anyone for four or five days. Academically, she is struggling to obtain the same results she received in Thailand. She does not understand the reasons why this has happened and that she has never felt so lonely in her life. 1. What is the name for the intercultural problem that Alisha is experiencing?
