Question:
“Although discipline in the workplace generally has a negative connotation, to me it means performing consistently to meet the desired outcome. When you’re working towards a personal goal you need to have discipline to achieve that goal, otherwise you’ll likely keep getting set back and never actually reach it. Take being on a diet for example, or training for a marathon. I think this is the same for businesses. Disciplinary policies set the standard for employees to align with the companies’ goals, and if the standards aren’t being met then there are corrective actions to keep employees on the right track. Discipline is a learned skill and sometimes people need to be trained and reminded of what the goals are.”
