An FMS has 2 type A machines and three type B machines. Five part types are made on the FMS. Table 5.14 contains a set of jobs currently waiting to be completed. A job consists of a specified number of units of a single part type. Operations requiring machine type A have a tool named #A and similarly for type B machines. Machines are available 500 minutes a shift (all times are in minutes). Each machine can hold 3 tools. It is the start of shift one. Company policy is to make all parts due in the current shift and any additional complete jobs that can be accommodated with the same tooling setup.

1. Select the part types and quantities to be produced during this shift. Justify your decisions.
2. For each machine type, assign individual machines to groups.
3. Assign operations to machine groups. State your objective and explain your procedure. Assume that operations can be performed in any order.
