An Internet firm called Soft.com, Inc. licenses computer software and electronic information over the Internet. Soft.com has a web site, where users can license its software and electronic information. The web site is operated by an electronic agent; a potential user enters into Soft. coms web site and looks at available software and electronic information. Jenifer Sawyer pulled up the Soft.com web site on her computer screen and decided to order a certain rype of software. Sawyer entered the appropriate product code and de5cription; her name, mailing address, and credit card information, as well as other data needed to complete the order for a three-year licence at US $ 300 a month. The electronic agent had Sawyer verify all of the information a second time. When Sayer has completed verifying the information, she typed at the end of her order: I accept the electronic software only if after I have used it for two months I still personally like it. Soft.coms electronic agent delivered a copy of the software to Sawyer, who downloaded the copy of the software onto her computer. Two weeks later Sawyer sent the copy of the software back to Soft.com stating: Read our contract: I personally dont like this software, cancel my licence. Soft.com sued Sawyer to recover the licence payments for three years.
