Two supply chain mechanics that I deem vital for my MBA students would be planning and communication.The planning stage within a supply chain is important because it sets the road mapfor the entire supply chain system. There are 3 stages of planning: long-term, medium-term, and short-term (Banker, 2022). Long-term planning, also known as strategic planning, is usually a 1-5 year plan. It focuses on supplier agreements, production capabilities, distribution, and new product introduction. Medium-term planning, also known as tactical planning, is usually a 1-2 year plan. It focuses heavily on managing supply and demand levels. Short-term planning, also known as operational planning, is usually done on a daily or weekly basis. This plan focuses largely on order fulfillment and customer service.

Communication is vital to the supply chain. A supply chain is essentially an assembly line; an assembly line is codependent upon one another. Each part of the assembly line needs to know what everyone's role is and how their role impacts the entire process. Without communication, the whole supply chain falls apart.

By the end of the course, my MBA students should be able to effectively evaluate a supply chain management system, and develop a more creative approach to the system. They should be able to support and defend their new approach and ideas (Pikhart& Klimova, 2019). I would create an assessment of their knowledge and skills in the form of a project that would have them evaluate an existing supply chain management system and create a new approach.
