Analyzing a Contemporary Conflict – Negotiation and conflict resolution.
Identify and analyze a conflict situation that you have been involved with or have sufficient knowledge of to meet the requirements of this reflective paper. You can analyze a conflict situation in any realm such as:
- Personal conflict situation (all details will be kept confidential)
- Business or organizational conflict
- Geopolitical conflict situation
Remember that you must have sufficient intimate knowledge of the conflict situation at hand so that you will be able to integrate the application of the major concepts and frameworks/theories that we can discussed in this course.
Briefly and clearly describe the nature and details of the conflict situation in the introductory section of the report.
Most of the report should be your analysis of the conflict situation. This should include, but does not have to be limited to the following:
- What caused the conflict and what types of conflict can it be categorized as?
- What fueled / catalyzed the conflict?
- Conflict stages and escalation stages [and content of each]
- What approaches were taken by the parties involved?
- A critique of the conflict management strategies used by the key parties o If the conflict was resolved, how was it resolved and was this resolution successful [define “successful”]?
- If the conflict was / has not been resolved, why not? What is, or was, in the way?
- What could have been handled differently [proposal] and why [justification]?
- Plus, any other “value-added” insights / discussion you can provide.
