Question:
Anna has two very beautiful diamond rings (one-carat and two-carat respectively). Her friends, Phyllis and Betty, always wanted to buy these diamond rings from Esther. On 1 March 2021, Anna emailed separate messages to Phyllis and Betty.
The message to Phyllis said, “My one-carat diamond ring (with all the details about the diamond ring) is for sale at $50,000. Reply to me before the end of March. If I do not hear from you, I will assume you would buy my diamond ring.” On the other hand, the message to Betty said, “My diamond ring (without mentioning any details about the diamond ring) is for sale at $50,000. Reply to me before the end of March.”
Phyllis did not reply to Anna and Anna demanded her to pay $50,000 for her diamond ring on 5th April. Betty emailed to Anna on 30th March 2021 saying she would buy the diamond ring at the price of $50,000. Now Anna refuses to sell her diamond ring to Betty as she has already agreed to sell the diamond ring to Phyllis.
