Annotated Bibliography / Paper Proposal Due Friday October 8, 2021 - 11:59PM Overview: Students conduct a literature search for information to develop a self- selected thesis/topic on a current health care issue and its impact on the Canadian health care system. Any topic is acceptable if it is related to a current Canadian health issue within the last 5 years). Your annotated bibliography must include a specific topic and focus and a thesis statement. The thesis statement provides direction for the paper, indicating the aspects of the topic that you intend to cover and the position you intend to take. The purpose of this assignment is to: 1. introduce you to different types of sources and how you can access them; 2. help you understand and break down sources into its components: thesis/topic, supporting evidence, argument, citations, etc.; 3. prepare you with the skills to independently further research and critical thinking in the field of health sciences; 4. teach you to systematically understand the research process, starting with conducting proper literature searches and understanding in-depth into a topic and how it relates to your thesis/topic. A bibliography is a list of citations of sources (e.g., books, journal articles, websites, films, etc.) that you have used when researching a topic. The purpose of research is to state and support a thesis. An annotated bibliography is a way to organize your research when working on a proposal or academic paper; it includes a summary and evaluation of each source. These annotations are written in paragraph form and generally includes the following information: 1. An explanation of the main purpose of the source 2. A short summary of the key findings or arguments of the source 3. The academic/intellectual credentials of the source .e., is it a peer-reviewed journal? Is this research conducted by someone who is an expert in this area? 4. Any shortcomings or biases you notice 5. The value of this work as a contribution to the topic you are exploring
