Analyze the underlined case study and answer the questions based on it. A successful business organization requires strategic management as an action plan to be executed in achieving its policies and objectives with reference to its vision statement, mission statement and core values. Strategic communication encompasses considerations for formal and informal communication. One involves a careful and officially planned communication to meet specific requirement with organizational structure for flow of information. It uses vertical channel (downward/upward). The next is horizontal channel (lateral/same level). Followed in line is diagonal (across all levels) between internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational objective to promote goodwill. It has layout to follow (e.g. letter/memo format). The other is unofficial/unplanned/grapevine/rumors created by social interrelationships within/outside an organization involving personal interaction/conversation/friendly letters to cater for members mutual interest/common benefits/personal feelings. Strategic communication also has in place centralized and decentralized communication. The first strategy is the control of flow of communication/instructions from top management. It travels through middle level to lower level management. It has absolute delegation of authority/decision making at the head office/head quarters over branches. The second strategy is the spread in the flow of communication cutting across all departments/branches to act/take decision by managers/directors/staff. They give feedback to head office for redress/necessary actions. In exchanging information to carry out assigned tasks to all levels of management in all aspects of communication whether written or verbal involves the following principal aspects to be considered: source of communication, i.e. the sender, destination, i.e. the recipient, content, i.e. break down of the message into main and subheading, processes of transmission, i.e. face-to-face/word processing/letters/memo and understanding, i.e. feedback/responses from recipients.
