What are the 4 reasons Evidence may be excluded?

1. To protect constitutional rights. Example: if a search is conducted illegally violating the 4^th amendment the Judge could rule out the admission of those evidence in court.
2. To protect privileged relationships. Example: attorney-client, doctor-patient, priest-parishioner, two spouses
3. To avoid undue prejudice to the accused. Example: In a Dui trial showing graphic videos and photography to the victims families can be prejudicial.
4. To prohibit the introduction of unreliable evidence. Example: The hearsay evidence. To prove that john doe was in town a witness testifies: Jane Doe told me that her friend John Doe was in town. Because Jane doe wasnt present in court during the testimony the answer was deemed hearsay.
