Should bars and restaurants have to pay a mu license fee? Recently someone I know, posted on FB that they were outraged that the bar/ciub they normally play at couldn't book them over the weekend, because an ASCAP representative had contacted the club to inform them that they needed a music license in order to book live bands. The club did not want to pay the license and thus decided to not book the band. The band was then out the $100 or so fee that they normally would have received. The bar was commenting that they didn't have the money to pay the license. How expensive do you think having a license would be for a small bar or club? QUESTION: Do you think ASCAP, BMI and SESAC should require bars and clubs to purchase a music license in order to present live music? Why or Why not
