The OS options are as follows: -Windows 8 or Windows 7 -Mac OS X Yosemite, OS X Mavericks -Fedora -Linux 20 (Heisenburg), Fedora Linux 19 (Schrodingers Cat) or Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 -iOS 8.x or Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Your research paper should have the following sections:

-Short history of development of OS. For example, which events or improvements led to Windows 7 after previous version of Windows were developed.

-storage requirements

-memory size and memory utilization

-virtual memory management

-use of multi

-core technology

-processor benchmarks

-parallel computing support, if applicable

-how devices are managed and maintained (disks, memory, tape)

-explain File Manager used by the OS

-file naming conventions (number of characters, maximum length, case sensitivity)

-how is network implemented and any new networking technology used

-your own personal evaluation and review (most important part of the project; should be at least 2 pages)
