ARTICLE XVI SENIORITY Section 1. The term "seniority" shall mean the length of service of an employee in a department; however, for vacation benefit, the employee's continuous service with UHS shall be calculated. An employee's seniority rights shall not be affected by a change of ownership or management of UHS so long as said employee remains in the employ of the new owners or managers. Seniority shall not be broken except by: discharge for cause; resignation; layoff in excess of the employee's length of service or one (1) year, whichever period is shorter; or failure to return to work upon expiration of a leave of absence, unless within five (5) days thereafter good cause is shown for such failure to return. The Employer shall post a seniority list in each building in a place accessible to all employees. Said list shall contain the names of all employees who have seniority as provided for herein and their respective dates of hire
