• As a marketer, you may be called upon to write a Press Release. This is generally under the purview of Public Relations however depending on your position, for example, if your clients are SMEs (Small to medium-sized enterprises) then your marketing duties could easily spill over into PR.
• For this assignment imagine yourself in a role as a marketing manager for a manufacturer/producer and you must release information about a new product in the form of a product announcement.
• Follow the same format as a Press Release and in 300 words write your product announcement. Please note: If you are a B2C producer then your audience will be retailers and/or wholesalers. If you are a B2B company then your audience would be agents and industrial distributors.
• Ensure that the new product is appropriate to the marketing channel you choose. For example, a product announcement for a low ticket item found in a grocery store chain operating in a large regional area would be written for agents or industrial distributors. A new computer product, for example, may have an audience of just retailers.
