After heavy rains in the Municipality, 5,500m section of the main road in the town has been destroyed and there is the need to under-take rehabilitation of the road. The scope of works needed to completely restore 3km section of the destroyed road is as follows. i. Remove existing pavement surface of thickness 150mm, length 1.50km and an average width of 8m and remove from site. ii. Provide filling of an average of 0.3m thick of filling of the entire length of the road to raise the vertical level of the road. iii. Excavate to remove unsuitable material of 500m. iv. Provide sub-base of 100mm thick. V. Provide natural granular material base of 250mm thick. vi. Primer seal the road with bitumen emulsion at a rate of 1.34 litres per metre square including Chippings of size 14mm at a rate of 0.01m3/m2. vii. Seal the road with bitumen emulsion at a rate of 1.5 litres per metre square including Chippings of size 10mm at a rate of 0.01m3/m2. Chippings will be spread by a chipping spreader. d. Bitumen sprayer would be used for application of the bitumen emulsion.
