Question: As I work towards my SMART goal, this week's materials pertaining to cultural intelligence have provided valuable insights into how to navigate and effectively communicate

As I work towards my SMART goal, this week's materials pertaining to cultural intelligence have provided valuable insights into how to navigate and effectively communicate across different cultures. Apart from the other four capacity I learned, there are two key aspects that resonate with my SMART goal and that I see myself continuing to incorporate in my professional life. one being Self-reflection which is mostly used in the organization I belong to, and this is valuable because it promotes diversity and inclusion within the workplace. To effectively communicate with leaders and colleagues from different backgrounds, it is important to be open to trying different approaches and techniques. This involves making adjustments in terms of communication style and being more mindful of body language and nonverbal cues to make sure messages are being understood. Understanding cultural islands is another important concept where shared values and beliefs can help bridge cultural differences. In my organization, recognizing and celebrating these cultural islands helps promote cooperation and collaboration among team members from diverse backgrounds. Another concept learned that pertains to my overall smart goal is the nonverbal behavior exercise I completed this week. Since the organization I belong to revolves around people from different cultural backgrounds, some of the nonverbal behavior is implemented more often, including gestures, body language, facial expressions, etc. one take away is not understanding some of these gestures. This can potentially lead to miscommunication and misunderstands, so it is important to be aware of these nonverbal cues so that it can help employees communicate more effectively with colleagues and people from diverse cultural backgrounds. In general, the material this week has provided me with additional insights on how to navigate and grow in a multicultural work environment. By applying these concepts to my overall SMART goal, I aim to improve my cultural competence and contribute to a more inclusive and collaborative organization.
