Question:
As we have learned, although the CSI effect is a recent phenomenon, it has long been recognized that media portrayals of the United States legal system are capable of significantly altering public awareness, knowledge, and opinions of it. You talk about "educating the public" through public awareness campaigns. I like the idea, but do you really think anyone would pay attention? In a more micro approach, I've had past students suggest jurors be given an assessment test to rule out any biases (to include the CSI Effect) when they are being considered as a juror. That sounds like a pretty good idea; what say you class? Will this work? Why or why not?
