As we have learned from our assigned readings, stakeholder analysis is a technique for analyzing information to determine which stakeholders to engage during the project lifecycle.

One classification model you can use is the power/interest grid to group stakeholders based on their level of authority (power) and concern (interest) for the success of the project. Figure 13-2 from our assigned readings is an example of a power/interest grid.

For your homework this week you need to create a Power/Interest grid that is similar to the grid from our assigned reading (Figure 13-2).

Create the Power/Interest grid based on our Central City IT Project Scenario (see below). You will use the Stakeholder Register that was created for the Central City project. Your Power/Interest grid needs to include every individual in the stakeholder register.

After you complete your Power/Interest grid answer the following questions:

  1. How would you use the Power/Interest grid in your stakeholder management strategy?
  2. What would you do if you have stakeholders with high interest and high power that is resistant or unaware of the project?
  3. How can the power/interest grid and stakeholder register be used in a stakeholder engagement plan?
