As we have learned from our assigned readings, stakeholder analysis is a technique for analyzing information to determine which stakeholders to engage during the project lifecycle.
One classification model you can use is the power/interest grid to group stakeholders based on their level of authority (power) and concern (interest) for the success of the project. Figure 13-2 from our assigned readings is an example of a power/interest grid.
For your homework this week you need to create a Power/Interest grid that is similar to the grid from our assigned reading (Figure 13-2).
Create the Power/Interest grid based on our Central City IT Project Scenario (see below). You will use the Stakeholder Register that was created for the Central City project. Your Power/Interest grid needs to include every individual in the stakeholder register.
After you complete your Power/Interest grid answer the following questions:
- How would you use the Power/Interest grid in your stakeholder management strategy?
- What would you do if you have stakeholders with high interest and high power that is resistant or unaware of the project?
- How can the power/interest grid and stakeholder register be used in a stakeholder engagement plan?
