As you can see from Lesson 3, our perceptions of issues are influenced by many factors. All of us, at one time or another, have judged others and formed some level of discrimination. There are three threads included in this Discussion Forum. 1. Identify in your messages, some stereotypes you may have held at some time in your life (eg. native Canadians, Politicians, Lawyers, homosexuals, Jewish people, Afro Americans, etc.) and discuss which aspects from the Lesson Material may explain what caused you to develop such prejudices. 2. Do you think racism exists in Canada? Explain. (If you have a personal story, please consider sharing it with the class) 3. A recent article about 'costumes' raises some interesting issues. Discuss.
