Identify what or which concepts resonate with you and why do you find them inspiring?

What really resonated with me for Modules 1 & 2 is the video How to Become an Entrepreneur one key concept that Patrick mentioned was the 5 steps that he suggests you should take when deciding what type of Entrepreneur you want to be. Patrick stated the following 5 steps will assist you to help make a decision:

  1. Choose one route
  2. Find a place to work for and learn what they are doing
  3. Become an expert at that one thing
  4. Find a way, or two, to make it better
  5. Become and voice and a leader

This really resonated with me because over the years I have followed these steps to a degree without knowing it; However, when he stated each step, it opened my eyes to potential ideas within the field that I have acquired years of knowledge and skills in. I found this very inspiring because I have had the mindset that an entrepreneur needs to provide some kind of new innovation. This helped me to think of what can be done as an entrepreneur within a company.

Reflect on how these might change your own definition of entrepreneurship - does it support or change it and why? My definition of entrepreneurship has definitely changed. Watching this video allowed me to look at the definition that I had which was, being an entrepreneur requires an individual to provide an innovation or provide and new way of doing things to a product, or service that already exists. Though I do feel the above is still strong definition I believe adding that an entrepreneur can also be someone who can take their acquired knowledge and skills in their expert area, to find holes and fill them with alternate ways to achieve end goals.

Does this motivate you to think about how you might achieve entrepreneurial success over the next few years?

Yes, as mentioned above, this has opened my eyes to potential ideas within the field that I have acquired years of knowledge and skills in. This has shed new light and motivated me to think of how I can use what I have learned over the years to find success for myself as an entrepreneur. I think that using the knowledge and skills that I have obtained as a base, is a great motivator in my entrepreneurial journey.
